Holy Assumption Cathedral
The main Orthodox cathedral of Tashkent
Avliyoata Street, Tashkent
About
The Holy Assumption Cathedral is the main Orthodox church in Tashkent and the spiritual centre of the city’s Orthodox community. It is an active cathedral with regular services. The building follows traditional Orthodox church architecture, and inside visitors can see the iconostasis, icons and church furnishings. Located on Avliyoata Street, it is easy to visit during free time between appointments.
The cathedral suits a short stop: you can view the exterior, step inside if you wish, and sit quietly. Please remember it is a functioning church, so modest behaviour and respectful dress are expected. In hot months, morning visits are more comfortable.
